Different Prisma members are active in the area of emergency relief. The committee Emergency Relief works towards co-ordination of emergency aid activities. Emergency aid is given (during and) after a (civil)war and natural disasters. The combination and coordination of organisations assures a good transition from emergency phase via rehabilitation to devel-opment oriented activities.
The coordination and tuning includes both fundraising and implementation. Up to now coor-dinated activities were held during the campaigns for Afghanistan, Southern Africa, Liberia and Iran.
From a historical perspective, there are two subgroups within the committee:
Group 1: Tear Fund Netherlands, Word & Deed, Zoa- refugeecare.
Group 2: Dorcas Aid international, ICS (International Christian Support Fund), World Vision Netherlands.
The first group works during the realisation of the projects according to the ‘leadagent model’, where the organisation with the best contacts in the region leads the project. The committee Emergency Aid has signed a memorandum with EO-metterdaad, which resulted in the financing of three projects.
